Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support students in UK secondary schools across Halton. You will help pupils stay engaged, manage behaviour and deliver targeted interventions across Key Stage 3 and 4.

The role is day-to-day with long‑term opportunities, paid on a PAYE basis, with ongoing CPD, support from consultants and a referral scheme. Minimum 6 months’ UK secondary experience is expected.

Qualifications

These schools are committed to creating positive and inclusive learning environments where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential through excellent pastoral support, high expectations and engaging learning opportunities.

The schools are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant on a day-to-day basis, with long-term opportunities available for the right Teaching Assistant. The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside classroom teachers across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting students to remain engaged in lessons, promoting positive behaviour, and delivering targeted interventions for pupils who require additional behavioural, pastoral or academic support. Experience working with students displaying challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND would be highly beneficial.

The successful Teaching Assistant will have:

• At least 6 months' experience working within a UK secondary education setting


• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people aged 11 to 16


• Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND is highly desirable


• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills


• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff


• A calm, resilient and proactive approach to supporting young people
