Job summary

Huxley CE Primary is seeking a teaching assistant to support the class teacher in delivering the curriculum and assisting pupils with their individual plans, including sensory breaks, movement and art therapy. The role emphasizes raising attainment and wellbeing within a nurturing, trauma-informed approach.

Applicants should have essential NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and experience with SEND; safeguarding is a priority, with enhanced DBS checks. The post is temporary with potential for permanence.

Qualifications

• First Aid qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivery of the curriculum and support the pupil with their individual plans (including short sensory breaks, movement and art therapy).
• Provide engaging educational experiences to raise attainment and support wellbeing.
• Contribute to a strong team ethos and safeguarding practices; the role may be temporary, reviewed termly with a view to becoming permanent.

Job description

Huxley CE Primary is a mainstream school that offers flexi-schooling provision. The majority of our children attend school on the core days of Tuesday- Thursday and are educated at home for the remainder of the week. In partnership with the parents, we wish to deliver a holistic educational experience which embraces both ‘in school’ and ‘at home’ learning. Experience of working with SEND children is essential. We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of ASD and ADHD and takes a trauma informed approach to supporting our pupils to thrive to be the best that they can be. Your role will be to assist the class teacher in delivery of curriculum whilst supporting the pupil with their individual plan (this includes short sensory breaks, movement and art therapy).

Qualifications

• DESIRABLE: Evidence of Continuing Professional Development An accredited First Aid qualification
• ESSENTIAL: Appropriate qualification to at least NVQ Level 2 Previous experience as a teaching assistant in either EYFS and/or KS1 KS2
