Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Bury, BL9. You will provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs, helping with emotional regulation and engagement in learning.

The role requires a calm, patient approach, the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, and strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and act as a consistent role model.
  • Support pupils in and out of the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour through calm, nurturing approaches.
  • Implement individual behaviour support strategies and plans.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience, confidence and independence.
  • Help pupils develop positive coping strategies and make appropriate choices.
  • Support the de-escalation of challenging behaviour using appropriate strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and other professionals.
  • Monitor behaviour and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bury, BL9.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in education. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, build positive relationships and achieve their potential within a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment.

The Role

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD or additional needs.
  • Is calm, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
  • Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
  • Can remain consistent and professional when supporting pupils with complex behavioural needs.

Experience within education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or a similar setting is desirable, but we welcome applications from people with transferable skills and the right attitude.
