We are seeking a resilient and committed Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), supporting young people who may present with SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, emotional regulation challenges and complex barriers to education.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to make a genuine difference to young people who may have struggled within mainstream education. You will work closely with experienced teachers and pastoral staff to help pupils re-engage with learning, manage their behaviour and develop the confidence and skills needed to move forward.

  • Use calm, consistent and nurturing approaches to promote positive behaviour.

  • Support pupils to regulate their emotions and develop appropriate coping strategies.

  • Help de-escalate challenging situations and respond appropriately to incidents.

  • Implement individual behaviour support strategies and plans.

  • Encourage pupils to re-engage with education and develop positive attitudes towards learning.

  • Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, SENCOs and other professionals.

  • Encourage pupils to develop resilience, independence, confidence and positive social skills.

  • Monitor behaviour and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people with behavioural and SEMH needs.

  • Is calm, patient and confident when managing challenging behaviour.

  • Can build strong, positive relationships with secondary-aged pupils.

  • Is resilient and able to remain professional in difficult situations.

  • Can provide consistent boundaries while maintaining a supportive and nurturing approach.

  • Is adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for young people.

Experience working within education, a PRU, SEMH provision, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, security or similar environments is desirable, but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with strong transferable skills and the right attitude.

What We Offer
