Job summary

INMAN in Bolton is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Support Assistant to help pupils with SEMH needs in a specialist school. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, build trusting relationships, and promote positive behaviour.

The role is full-time, term-time only with a daily pay of £107.71–£111.85. A DBS check and safeguarding commitments apply, and there are ongoing training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional needs.
  • Calm, patient and confident when managing behaviours that challenge.
  • Strong, positive relationships with pupils.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes.
  • Experience in education, care, youth work or similar is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support pupils in and out of the classroom to encourage engagement.
  • Promote positive behaviour through restorative and nurturing approaches.
  • Implement individual behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
  • Act as a positive role model and promote self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding and behaviour records.

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in education. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, build positive relationships and achieve their potential within a safe and supportive learning environment.

The Role

As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Support pupils in and out of the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistent, restorative and nurturing approaches.
  • Implement individual behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging positive choices and promoting self-confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with school safeguarding and behaviour policies.

  • Has experience within education, care, youth work, residential care or a similar setting (desirable), although candidates with transferable skills and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
