Job summary

Smile Education is seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary academy in Grimsby. You will support learning, assist with activities and help foster pupil wellbeing in a busy classroom.

The ideal candidate holds Level 2/3 TA qualification, has recent UK primary experience, and demonstrates strong safeguarding, communication and teamwork. This role offers full-time hours, DBS checks, and ongoing CPD opportunities.

Pay: £95–£110 per day, dependent on experience

Smile Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary academy in Grimsby, to recruit a passionate and qualified Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing and who wants to make a genuine difference within a busy and rewarding primary school environment. The school is committed to creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other members of staff to provide effective support both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role
  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups to support learning and progress.
  • Providing targeted support to pupils who require additional assistance.
  • Helping to create a positive, safe and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop independence.
  • Preparing classroom resources and assisting with learning activities.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Providing pastoral and practical support where required.
  • Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
  • Contributing positively to the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Recent experience working within a UK primary school or education setting.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them succeed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, caring and child-centred approach.
  • The ability to support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
  • Good behaviour management skills.
  • The confidence to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive, reliable and adaptable approach.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Requirements
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Recent UK experience working with children in a school or education setting.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
  • Two years of employment and/or education references.
  • At least one professional reference relating to working with children.
