Job summary

Smile Education is currently recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant in the Grimsby area, starting from September 2026. The role supports learning, wellbeing and development across the primary school, working with teachers and the wider team to create an inclusive, positive environment.

The successful candidate will work with pupils across year groups, assist with learning activities, manage routines, and contribute to after-school club duties, with flexible hours to cover term-time plus

Qualifications

  • A relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
  • Ability to provide two years of employment and/or education references.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with delivery of engaging and purposeful learning activities.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Provide support to pupils with a range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Support classroom routines and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils stay focused and engaged.
  • Assist with preparation of learning resources and activities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff and other professionals.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Job description

Location: Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 36.75 hours per week – Term Time plus 5 days

Working Hours:
  • 9:00am – 3:30pm, 2 days per week
  • 9:00am – 5:45pm, 3 days per week

Pay: £100–£110 per day, dependent on experience

Smile Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Support and Learning Delivery) to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Grimsby area from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning, wellbeing and development and enjoys working as part of a collaborative school team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils across the school, helping to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their potential.

The Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other school staff to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and purposeful learning activities.
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning.
  • Providing support to pupils with a range of learning needs.
  • Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

  • Monitoring pupils' progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting the wider life of the school, including the After School Club.
  • Helping to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all pupils.
After School Club Responsibilities

As part of the role, the successful candidate will work three days per week until 5:45pm to support the school's After School Club.

You will help provide a safe, engaging and enjoyable environment for children after the school day, supporting activities, routines and children's wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who is committed to helping children succeed. You will ideally have:

  • A relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within a primary school or educational setting.
  • Experience supporting children's learning and development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A patient, caring and nurturing approach.
  • Good classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to support pupils with a range of needs.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their potential.

Requirements
  • A relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Smile Education.
  • The ability to provide two years of employment and/or education references.
  • At least one reference relating to working with children.
  • References available during the pre-screen or registration process wherever possible.
  • The right to work in the UK.
