As a Teaching Assistant, you will be enhancing the learning of pupils who have a wide range of special educational and learning needs. You will also support teaching staff in enabling pupils to gain independence, participate fully in the curriculum, and engage in school life. This role is based at Kirby Moor School.
Duties will include:
- Supporting pupils in various settings: in groups, classrooms, during lunch and break times, and social times.
- Accompanying pupils on organised school visits as appropriate.
- Collaborating with the SENDCo to develop social skills and appropriate behaviour.
- Participating in the development, delivery, and monitoring of individual programmes.
- Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Helping resolve issues that cause anxiety or emotional responses.
- Maintaining accurate records as required by the school.
- Collaborating with teaching staff for effective support.
- Supporting the delivery of the Key Stage and school curriculum map.
- Working in groups where appropriate.
- Being part of a flexible, supportive team to promote the school's ethos.
- Attending weekly staff meetings and relevant training events.
All applicants must have:
- Appropriate academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard, professional qualifications to at least NVQ level, or proven competency through experience.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- The ability to work independently with high accuracy and maintain clear records.
- Good time management skills and flexibility.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team collaboration.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training for personal development.
- Knowledge of child development and learning styles; understanding of childhood trauma (training provided).
- Access to a vehicle and a full driving license due to location.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
