Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking adaptable Secondary Teaching Assistants to guide students aged 11-16 in Birkenhead and Wirral schools. You will support KS3–KS4, help with coursework, and foster a positive learning environment.

A DBS check is preferred, with weekly pay rates and flexible full-time, part-time, or day-to-day supply options. Join a dedicated consultant team to ensure consistent coverage and student motivation, with opportunities to develop professionally through CPD and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Experience supporting teenagers or young people (secondary TA work, mentorship, coaching, or tutoring).
• Confidence working within a high school environment.
• Enhanced DBS check on Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted 1:1 and small-group academic support across KS3 & KS4.
• Assist subject teachers with classroom management and a productive space.
• Help students understand coursework and break down complex material.
• Keep disengaged students focused and on task during lessons.
• Support pupils with organisation, time management and study habits.
• Circulate during whole-class teaching to offer quiet reassurance and guidance.
• Be a reliable, encouraging presence to boost student confidence.
