Job summary

Destination Education in Basildon is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils in mainstream and SEN settings across Basildon and surrounding areas.

You could work 1:1 or in small groups, assisting lessons and supporting pupils with additional needs. A flexible, long-term opportunity is available with immediate or September start dates.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education, childcare, youth work or support work is desirable.
  • Experience with pupils with additional needs is valued.
  • Ability to work effectively with pupils and staff in mainstream and SEN settings.

Teaching Assistant – Mainstream & SEN across Basildon | £90–£120 per day | Flexible opportunities

Destination Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic, caring and committed Teaching Assistants to work across a range of mainstream and SEN schools in Basildon and the surrounding areas.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, a recent graduate, an aspiring teacher, or someone with a passion for supporting children and young people, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing. Depending on the school and your experience, you could work alongside the class teacher in a mainstream classroom or provide more tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Your responsibilites may include:
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Assisting the class teacher with lessons and learning activities
  • Supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and communication skills
  • Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Building strong and trusting relationships with pupils and staff
We are looking for candidates who are:
  • Passionate about working with children and young people
  • Patient, caring and approachable
  • Reliable, enthusiastic and adaptable
  • Confident working as part of a team
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Interested in supporting children with additional needs
  • Experienced in education, childcare, youth work or support work (desirable, but not essential)

SEN experience is highly valued, but we are also keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude who are looking to start or develop their career in education.
