Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across mainstream schools in Rotherham. The role offers flexible temporary placements, with daily rates between £92.56 and £95, paid via PAYE.

You will assist in class, provide 1:1 or small-group support, and help pupils engage and develop academically, socially and emotionally. DBS Update Service preferred or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD or SEMH is desirable.

Academics are looking for a dedicated Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant to work across mainstream schools in Rotherham. This role would suit a caring and adaptable Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant who can support pupils with SEN while helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Position: Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Contract: Temporary, flexible ongoing supply
Pay: 92.56 - 95 per day (dependent on experience, training, qualifications and client rate available, paid via PAYE - no umbrella company fees, inclusive of holiday pay)
Start Date: ASAP / September

About the Role

As a Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs within mainstream schools across Rotherham. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis, in small groups or as part of the wider classroom, depending on the needs of each school and pupil.

The Mainstream SEN Teaching Assistant will work alongside class teachers and SEN staff to encourage positive learning, independence and engagement. Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs would be particularly beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

• Understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD or SEMH is desirable
• Patient, calm and encouraging approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Relevant qualifications or SEN training are desirable
