Job summary

Pocklington School in York is seeking a capable and enthusiastic classroom practitioner to join our Science department from January 2027. The role is full-time and involves teaching KS3 Science, plus Year Nine Physics and Year Ten Chemistry to GCSE level, within a thriving co-educational day and boarding environment.

You will be part of a busy school community and have opportunities to contribute beyond the classroom through clubs, sport, and trips.

Qualifications

• Qualified science teacher with ability to teach KS3 and GCSE science.
• Experience delivering Physics at Year 9 level and Chemistry at Year 10 level.
• Ability to motivate and stretch all pupils in a busy school environment.

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and well qualified classroom practitioner to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Science departments from January 2027.

12 miles to the East of York, we offer a unique working environment based within a friendly market town, but close to major cities and heritage coastlines. Our successful co-educational day and boarding school is thriving and we wish to appoint a full time Teacher of Science who can motivate and stretch all pupils, whilst allowing every child to achieve to the best of their ability.

You will be required to teach Key Stage 3 Science predominantly, as well as some Year Nine Physics and Year Ten Chemistry, both covering GCSE content.

We are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a busy school community and is keen to get involved beyond the classroom. Whether through sport, extra-curricular clubs or trips there are plenty of opportunities to share your interests and make a real contribution to school life.
