Job summary

Nova Education Trust in Nottingham is seeking a dedicated teacher to deliver lessons, plan and assess student progress, and uphold professional standards.

You will monitor behaviour, communicate with parents, and contribute to school-wide training and CPD. The role includes mentoring responsibilities and supporting wellbeing and attainment across classes.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and fulfil the Teachers' Professional Standards.
  • Teach students within allocated classes and support achievement.
  • Plan and prepare tasks that challenge students and sustain interest.
  • Monitor academic progress and address underachievement.
  • Assess, record and report on progress and attainment.
  • Register attendance in class.
  • Set appropriate homework.
  • Mark work and give constructive feedback.
  • Research new topics, update subject knowledge, write new curriculum materials.
  • Develop new curriculum materials.
  • Manage student behaviour in class and school premises.
  • Apply effective measures in misbehaviour cases.
  • Communicate with parents about progress and participate in meetings.
  • Attend departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole school events.
  • Undergo regular observations and INSET as part of CPD.
  • Engage in continuing professional development.
  • Undertake critical self-evaluation and CPD.
  • Contribute to improving teaching and working practices.
  • Responsibilities of a Mentor.
  • Address wellbeing, development and academic progress in the mentor group.
  • Check uniform and appearance daily.
  • Monitor behaviour of students in the mentor group.

Job description

  • To uphold and fulfil the requirements of theTeachers Professional Standards
  • Teach students within allocated classes,enhancing their learning and providing the opportunity for achievement for allstudents
  • Planning and preparing tasks which challengestudents and ensure high levels of interest during lessons
  • Monitor the academic progress of students withinallocated classes and implement appropriate strategies to addressunderachievement
  • To assess, record and report on the progress andattainment of all students within allocated classes
  • To register the attendance of students in class
  • To set appropriate homework
  • To mark student’s work and give appropriate andconstructive feedback
  • To research new topic areas, maintain up-to-datesubject knowledge, and devise and write
  • new curriculum materials
  • Manage student behaviour in the classroom and onschool premises and apply appropriate
  • and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour
  • Communicate with parents and carers overstudents’ progress and participate in
  • departmental meetings, parents' evenings andwhole school training events
  • Undergoing regular observations andparticipating in regular in-service training (INSET) as part
  • of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Undertake critical self-evaluation and thenparticipate in continuous professional development
