Job summary

Archway Learning Trust in Nottingham is seeking a committed teacher to deliver engaging lessons across key subjects. You will maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and integrate relevant curriculum developments to enrich learning.

The role requires careful planning of lessons, addressing diverse needs including SEN and high-ability pupils, and following IEPs and IBPs. You will use attainment data to set clear expectations and monitor progress, while modelling professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Have a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of their subject(s) and consider wider curriculum developments relevant to their work.
  • Consistently plan lessons and sequences to meet students' learning needs, including SEN and gifted students; follow IEPs/IBPs.
  • Keep an attendance register in every lesson and follow up absences when necessary.
  • Use a range of effective teaching and classroom-management strategies.
  • Use prior attainment data to set expectations and monitor progress with clear feedback.
  • Utilise academy performance data to determine how much progress students are making.
  • Take responsibility for professional development and apply outcomes to improve teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to implementing the policies and aspirations of the Academy and Trust.
  • Be effective professionals who challenge and support all students to do their best.
  • Set and maintain high expectations for student behaviour.
  • Set a good example to students in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.

Job description

  • Have athorough and up to date knowledge of their subject(s) and should take accountof wider curriculum developments that are relevant to their work;
  • Consistentlyand effectively plan lessons and sequences of lessons to meet students’individual learning needs, including students with special educational needs,and gifted or talented students. They should be aware of, and take properaccount of the strategies agreed in IEPs (Individual Education Plans) and IBPs(Individual Behaviour Plans);
  • Keep anattendance register of students in every lesson and following up absence whennecessary;
  • Consistentlyand effectively use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching andclassroom management;
  • Consistentlyand effectively use information about prior attainment to set well-groundedexpectations for students, and monitor progress to give clear and constructivefeedback;
  • Be ableto make use of the performance data available in the Academy in order todetermine how much progress their students are making;
  • Takeresponsibility for their own professional development and use the outcomes toimprove their teaching and students’ learning;
  • Make anactive contribution to implementing the policies and aspirations of the Academyand Trust;
  • Beeffective professionals who challenge and support all students to do theirbest;
  • Set andmaintain high expectations for student behaviour;
  • Set a good example to students, for example in terms of appropriate dress, standardsof punctuality and attendance;
