Job Title: Teacher of Science

The Teacher of Science will join a vibrant department committed to achieving the Academy's vision of excellence and success. The role involves maintaining high standards of achievement, attainment, and enjoyment in Science, enabling all pupils to make exceptional progress.

The successful applicant will be dedicated to delivering high-quality teaching and fostering a genuine interest in Science through diverse experiences inside and outside the classroom. They will ensure all pupils have the opportunity to succeed and will employ strategies to motivate each learner to achieve their best.

The candidate should be able to inspire and motivate students, fostering a love for learning. Success in this role requires good teamwork, high standards, and a strong work ethic. Co-op Academy North Manchester offers high-quality CPD opportunities. The Academy maintains strong links with MMU, the Alliance for Learning SCITT, and Teach First, reflecting its commitment to developing new teachers. The Science department features 10 laboratories across two floors, with prep rooms and specialist technicians supporting practical work. The department is well-equipped with up-to-date practical equipment.

Curriculum and Extracurricular Activities

At KS3, the curriculum ensures a smooth transition from KS2, emphasizing understanding core concepts through rich tasks and problem-solving. At KS4, pupils can follow the AQA Combined Trilogy or study triple Sciences, leading to GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The department collaborates on planning and resource sharing for consistent lesson delivery.

Extensive extracurricular STEM activities are available, with a goal for every pupil to participate in at least one STEM event annually.
