Job summary

Barnsley College is recruiting a enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Public Services to join our Service Industries department. You will plan, prepare, deliver and assess learning experiences that stretch and motivate learners to achieve their full potential across a range of Public Services topics.

You will contribute to enriching learner experiences through educational visits and partnerships with employers, while maintaining an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject field.
  • Level 3 qualification in Public Services or related subject fields
  • GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications
  • At least 2 year's relevant industrial experience within the public services sector and/or teaching contexts
  • Knowledge and ability to teach across a range of public service curriculum areas

Responsibilities

  • Teach across Public Services curriculum areas and plan, prepare, deliver and assess learning experiences.
  • Monitor learner progress and provide support to help learners succeed.
  • Organise educational visits, trips and residential activities to enrich learning.
  • Develop partnerships with employers and organisations across the public services sector.

Teacher in Public Service Department: Sport, Public Services, Travel and Tourism Salary: £30,702 - £34,484 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Full time 37 hours per week Reference: REC2501 | Closing Date: Thursday 10th September 2026 The Opportunity Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Public Services to join our Service Industries department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support learners studying within a dynamic curriculum area that prepares students for careers across the public services sector. You will work closely with Course Leaders and colleagues to plan, prepare, deliver and assess high-quality learning experiences that stretch, challenge and motivate learners to achieve their full potential. Teaching across a range of Public Services curriculum areas, you will create engaging lessons, monitor learner progress, and provide the support students need to succeed. As part of this role, you will contribute to enriching learner experiences through educational visits, trips and residential activities, while developing strong partnerships with employers and organisations across the public services sector. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where learners can thrive. Required
  • Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject field
