Job summary

East Sussex College Group in Lewes is seeking an enthusiastic English and Maths teacher to join our dedicated team. The role covers programmes from Functional Skills to GCSE, with a strong focus on student success and inclusive, student‑centred practice.

You will deliver engaging lessons, differentiate for all learners, use data to monitor progress, and collaborate with colleagues to raise achievement. 26 hours per week, term-time only, with a competitive FE salary.

This exciting role will include:



  • Teaching across a range of programmes from Functional Skills to GCSE to a range of learners.

  • Contributing to a collaborative and committed Maths & English team.

  • Using data and assessment to monitor progress and raise achievement.

  • Delivering engaging, high-quality lessons that support all learners.



  • A student‑centred approach with the ability to differentiate and assess effectively.

  • The ability to make maths engaging, accessible, and relevant, helping students build confidence as well as technical competence.

  • Strong subject knowledge with a willingness to adapt teaching approaches, use practical or real‑world examples, and embed numeracy skills that support progression into further study or employment.

  • For many of our teaching roles, we welcome applications from candidates at any stage of their career, including industry professionals with no/limited teaching experience. We can offer teacher development & qualifications to enable teaching success.

College location: Based at our Lewes.


Annual salary: £30,000 - £42,000 FTE


(Subject to qualifications, skills and experience)


Hours: Part Time - 26 Hours/52.14 weeks
