Job summary

Gateshead College is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Installation Teacher to join our growing Construction Department. You will bring real industry experience into the classroom and workshop, helping learners develop practical skills and professional behaviours required by today's electrical industry.

We welcome applicants with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified electrician, a Level 3 Electrical qualification, and knowledge of City & Guilds 2365 and 5357.

• Strong commitment to safe working practices, high-quality workmanship, and supporting learners to achieve their full potential
• Relevant Level 3 Electrical qualification
• Ability to communicate effectively, motivate others, and bring practical electrical knowledge to life

Responsibilities

• Deliver Electrical Installation lessons in classroom and workshop to learners
• Inspire and mentor students to develop practical skills and professional behaviours

Essential Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a qualified electrician.
• A strong commitment to safe working practices, high-quality workmanship, and supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
• A relevant Level 3 Electrical qualification.
• The ability to communicate effectively, motivate others, and bring practical electrical knowledge to life.
• An understanding of Electrical Installation qualifications, including City & Guilds 2365 and 5357.

Desirable Skills and Experience

To support the delivery of our expanding curriculum, experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:

• Solar PV installation.
• Battery storage systems.
• Electric Vehicle (EV) charging point installation.
• Curriculum planning and delivery.
• Learner assessment and quality assurance.

You do not need previous teaching experience. What matters most is that you are passionate about your trade, take pride in maintaining high standards, and are motivated by helping students and apprentices develop the confidence, skills, and ambition to progress into employment, apprenticeships, or higher‑level study.
