Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a specialist school in Telford to recruit a dedicated SEND Teacher. The role involves planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with SLD and PMLD, supporting complex learning needs, and maintaining a calm, positive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will hold QTS, have an Enhanced DBS, and be prepared to manage challenging behaviours while ensuring safeguarding compliance. The post is long-term with potential permanency.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent classroom teaching qualification.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure, Update Service preferred.
• Experience with SLD, PMLD and complex needs.

Job Title: SEND Teacher

Start Date: November
Salary: £155 - £180 per day

Are you a passionate SEND Teacher who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs?

Do you have experience supporting pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?

Are you a patient, adaptable and resilient teacher with strong classroom management skills?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist school in Telford that provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for pupils of all ages with SLD and PMLD. The school focuses on delivering high-quality education through structured routines, personalised learning and a nurturing approach that encourages every pupil to achieve their individual milestones.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teacher on a long-term basis, with the potential to secure a permanent position for the right SEND Teacher. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons, supporting pupils with complex learning needs and managing challenging behaviours while maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment.

The successful SEND Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS (ECTs are welcome to apply)
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
• Experience supporting pupils with SLD, PMLD and Complex Additional Needs
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviours
• A calm, patient and caring approach with the ability to adapt teaching to individual learning needs
