Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated Supply SEMH Teacher to work across specialist schools and alternative provisions. This role offers day-to-day, short-term, and long-term placements, with flexible hours during term time and a focus on pupils with SEMH needs.

You will deliver engaging lessons, maintain a calm classroom, build trusting relationships, and collaborate with TAs, SENCOs, and leaders.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEMH/SEND or within alternative provision is desirable.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Position: Supply SEMH Teacher
Salary: £140–£220 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: Flexible Supply | Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities | Term Time Only

  • Maintain high expectations while encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
