Job summary

Autograph Recruitment is seeking a Tax Assistant to join a growing accountancy firm in Exeter. You will assist with personal and corporate tax returns, support senior staff, and help with VAT and planning projects.

The role offers full study support (ATT/CTA) and ongoing training within a friendly, client-focused team. Great exposure to diverse clients and opportunities for progression are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a tax-focused role, preferably in an accountancy practice.
• ATT qualification or progress towards qualification with support.
• Good knowledge of personal and corporate tax regulations.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with tax software (IRIS, Digita) and MS Office.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of personal and corporate tax returns.
• Supporting senior tax staff with tax compliance and advisory tasks.
• Conducting research on tax legislation and staying up to date with changes in tax laws.
• Liaising with HMRC to resolve client queries and ensure compliance.
• Managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring all deadlines are met.
• Supporting the team with VAT returns and tax planning projects.
• Preparing correspondence with clients and assisting with general tax administration tasks.
