Job summary

The Bedford College Group is seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join the Motor Vehicle department at Central Bedfordshire College, Dunstable. The role supports learners with diverse needs and assists staff in delivering practical and classroom activities.

You will help create learning resources, supervise activities, and contribute to safeguarding and inclusive education while pursuing professional development.

Qualifications

• Relevant Level 3 qualification in the specialist subject area, with Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths.
• Experience supporting teaching and learning in an educational setting, working with learners aged 16+ and/or adult learners.
• Ability to manage classroom behaviour positively, follow lesson plans, and maintain an inclusive learning environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with IT proficiency including Microsoft Office and learning platforms such as Moodle/Teams.

Responsibilities

• Support students’ learning and inclusion, promoting engagement and meeting diverse needs.
• Assist teaching staff in delivering Motor Vehicle, Engineering and Construction programmes.
• Prepare learning resources and provide class cover when required.
• Supervise educational visits and activities, ensuring a safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff and maintain professional standards.
• Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and health & safety requirements.
