Job summary

Cardiff University is seeking an experienced IT professional to administer and support large-scale systems, with emphasis on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS solutions. The role covers requirements gathering, design, development, integration, testing, and documentation across a busy IT team in an academic setting.

This full-time, fixed-term 12-month post includes maternity cover, a competitive salary of £45,000 per year, 37 days annual leave and a generous pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Administrative experience of large-scale IT systems in a large organisation.
• Advanced Microsoft tool expertise or interest in developing it.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS-based solutions from external suppliers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced academic environment and collaborate with an IT team.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload and respond to new requirements.
• Experience in specification, design, development, integration, testing and documentation of large systems.
• Ability to review system designs, assess risks, support architecture and integration decisions.
• Experience specifying user/system interfaces including validation, security and recovery routines.
• Maintain application support processes using management tools; may include line management.

Responsibilities

• Support internal teams and external partners to develop, maintain and provide technical support for D365 Customer Insights.
• Assist with requirements gathering, review partner solutions, and respond to support requests.
• Provide technical support for services underpinning Email and Collaborative tools, focusing on Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.
• Specify, design, develop, integrate, test and document large or complex systems.
• Review other system designs to ensure appropriate tech choices and cross-system integration.
• Contribute to policies for architecture components and perform impact/risk analysis.
• Specify interfaces with validation, security and contingency procedures.
• Translate logical to physical designs; maintain support processes and adhere to procedures.
• Use application management software to investigate issues, collect stats and generate reports.
• Potential line management or leadership for staff in the technical domain.

• We need advanced Microsoft tool expertise, or a demonstrable interest in developing technical expertise in this area.
• We need experience working with external suppliers providing Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SaaS-based solutions.

• We need the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively and respond promptly to new requirements.

• We need experience specifying user and system interfaces, including validation, security, audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.

Responsibilities

• We support internal teams and external partners to develop, maintain and provide technical support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights solutions.
• We assist with requirements gathering, review solutions provided by partners, develop and maintain in-house solutions, and respond to support requests.
• We provide technical support for the services underpinning our Email and Collaborative tools, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights.
• We specify, design, develop, integrate, test and document large or complex systems.
• We review other systems designs to ensure appropriate technology selection, efficient use of resources, and integration across multiple systems.
• We contribute to policies for selecting architecture components and evaluate major design options, including impact analysis and risk assessment.
• We specify user and system interfaces, including validation, error correction, access, security, audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
• We assist with translating logical designs into physical designs.
• We maintain application support processes and ensure support requests are handled according to agreed procedures.
• We use application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
• We may provide line management and leadership for staff supporting technical and functional solutions and/or services in our technical domain.
