Job summary

MSA Safety in the United Kingdom is seeking a proactive Warehouse Supervisor to lead our Systems & Solutions Warehouse operations. You will direct daily shipping, receiving, storekeeping, and inventory control, ensuring safety, accuracy and efficiency across the site.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to supervise Systems & Solutions Warehouse Operations and supervise Systems & Solutions Warehouse Associates (Goods Inwards, Warehouse Associates and Despatch Associates). The incumbent is responsible for coordinating associate activities within the department / shift to ensure smooth and consistent operations. Other responsibilities include; maintaining accountability and fostering a cohesive team environment, assisting operators with preparation for same day domestic, international, and hazardous material shipments via expedited carrier services as needed, overseeing inventory and pallet management, record retention, and the cycle count program, including adjustments in accordance with Limit of Authority Policies scheduling routine maintenance on department equipment, ensuring performance plans are set, maintained and continuously improved, generating process improvement solutions, and participating in various company meetings, plus any other reasonable additional business requests.

Direct, schedule, coordinate and supervise day to day operations

• Supports operations and supervises staff responsible for shipping, receiving, and storeroom.
• Plans work including assigning, instructing, directing, and assisting associates.
• Handles day-to-day personnel issues and disciplinary actions.
• Manages receipt, storage, and shipment of materials, and related reporting.
• Ensures the maintenance of equipment and work areas.
• Maintains a cohesive team environment.
• Establishes effective lines of communications between staff and management or other internal departments and co-ordinates work activities within department to ensure highest possible productivity.
• Maintains constant communication with internal and external customers.
• Assists associates with problem solving, inquiries, and handles escalated customer issues.
• Adjusts schedules/expedites operations to meet unplanned changes in production schedules.
• Assists with international and hazardous material shipments.
• Recommends and assists in the implementation of unit goals and objectives.
• Monitors compliance to all company policies, procedures, standards, and goals.
• Recommends and implements process and procedure changes, leading to increased efficiency and effectiveness of material control processes.
• Oversees delivery performance and inventory accuracy through cycle count program.
• Develop/Documentation of SOP.
• Coordinating optimum management of stock and pallets.

Project Management

• Manage Project from conception to delivery and success.
• Oversees project team and work load to ensure deliverables and deadline are met.
• Monitor progress and report to Leadership team in regular cadence.
• Ensure project is meeting pre-agreed budgets.
• Liaise with internal and external customers/suppliers to support deliverable of successful project.
• Use project management tools to deliver consistent and comprehensive information and updates.
• Build process and procedure to support success after implementation.

Safety

• Manages a safe workplace by advocating incident prevention and preparedness (e.g., near-hits, ergonomics).
• Eliminates safety hazards and promotes a safe work environment.
• Conducts or arranges department safety training.
• Conducts or participates in regular safety meetings.
• Provides Safety Solutions to Management including benefits and how to implement.

Training

• Coordinates and/or conducts temporary, new hire or transferred associate training (orientation, etc.).
• Coordinates site Forklift Truck and Bendi licensing program.
• Performs on the job training for associates to meet customer expectations and to adhere to ISO and Standard Operating Procedures specifications.
• Ensures training records are prepared and retained as required.

Information and Data Monitoring

• Completes and documents revisions to ISO / department procedures.
• Leads Daily Team Huddle and facilitates weekly KPI departmental meetings. Metrics include cycle counts; daily shipping and receiving data; shipping errors.

Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoots delivery problems, missed deliveries, stock adjustments, and looks for missing material.
• Schedules preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment.
• Works with support staff to correct issues that arise.
• Responds to customer service inquiries as needed including Customer Concerns.
• Defining opportunities for improvements.

Qualifications

Experience (required)

• Two years of experience in Warehouse or Inventory management plus leadership experience would be an advantage
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP system, WMS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, SAP
• Project Management & Project delivery

Experience (preferred)

• Experience in materials coordination and inventory control
• Proven ability to review and analyze inventory reports

Education (required)

• Understanding of fast flowing business streams/ accuracy levels and delivery
