Responsibilities

The Systems & Solutions Supply Chain Manager performs in a leadership role in a single plant and warehouse set-up. There is a requirement to set, to identify, plan, and implement an operational supply planning vision and strategy for MSA. Specifically, this position will help develop and be responsible for executing supply planning for inventory optimization and delivery of finished goods to customers across the network.

These strategies will ensure MSA's ability to meet customers' evolving expectations and support the corporate strategy and goals. This position will also drive consistent, disciplined use of regional standards and processes to ensure both short term execution (production planning) and medium-to-long term (supply planning) occur at a defined standard monthly cadence.

The successful candidate will drive key performance indicator metrics and report their respective improvement plans as well as successfully build relationships with internal key stakeholders to drive cross-functional alignment and execution through the Supply Reviews and overall SIOP process. In addition, this candidate will develop supply chain talent and increase the regional team’s competency, skill, and performance.

Site-Level Supply Chain Strategy and Execution

• Identify, plan, direct, and implement regional supply planning strategies to ensure availability of finished goods to fulfill customer demandfor all regions.
• Ensure utilization of SAP IBP S&OP or SAP ECC to create realistic supply plans to meet the demand plan; includes review of mid to long term rough-cut capacity planning.
• Provide guidance in determining supply optimization which includes, but is not limited to, safety stock, safety time, lead times, threshold quantities, and minimum order quantities.
• Determine strategies to optimize distribution center inventory.
• Coordinate with Demand Planning, Materials Managers, Global Logistics & Transportation, Sales, Marketing, IT, and Order Administration to develop and refine supply planning practices and policies to meet best in class metrics.
• KPI: Melt, OTIF, Backorder, Stockouts, Finished Good Inventory, Slow-moving FG Inventory, I&O, SIOP Process Adherence, FEL ticket close-out rate.

Site-Level Supply Planning Execution

• Manage all Supply Planning activities across the region which includes supply planning, rough-cut capacity planning, supply optimization, and inventory management and analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement to KPI metrics, including but not limited to network Inventory, Delivery, Market Expected Lead Time, Stockouts, and Backorder.
• Drive accountability of cross-functional teams within the supply planning process.
• Partner with global SIOP team to ensure Supply Planning Team prepares for and leads monthly Supply Reviews and escalates decisions made or decisions needed to Executive SIOP Reviews.
• Serve as the supply planning liaison for all critical regional MSA change communications and initiatives from manufacturing sites / sales / marketing to key business leaders.
• Build strong relationships with all functional areas to establish best in class supply planning at both the local and global level.
• KPI: MELT, OTIF, Backorder, Stockouts, Finished Good Inventory, Slow-moving FG Inventory, I&O, SIOP Process Adherence, FEL ticket close-out rate.

Plant Production Planning & Execution

• Ensure Plant teams have disciplined approach to perform work center capacity and finite planning to achieve on time delivery to promise and to the market expected lead time.
• Set executable production plans that are derived directly from the strategic supply plan. Maintain quantifiable accountability measurements for each department to optimize schedule attainment and a predictable outcome.
• Maintain master data as standard work and hold that accountability through materials management organization.
• Ensure leadership practices that promote WMS, enforce timely & accurate movement of inventory inside the plant, the tracking of discrepancies, and root cause analysis.
• KPI: SAP Health Metrics, OTIF, Backorder, Cycle Count Adjustments, Master Data Accuracy, FEL ticket close-out rate

Talent Development and Coaching

• Build the breadth and depth of the Supply Chain Team and develop best-in class competencies and skills of the team.
• Implement the GSC&L talent strategy through effective recruitment, hiring, retention, and development of the key capabilities and behavioral competencies.
• Develop a structured method for sharing best practice across the region, increasing the supply chain technical competency of the collective team. Leverage current knowledge base and team members (power users, BPO's) to expedite this learning process.
• Contribute to the development, deployment, and sustainment of roles and responsibilities and the GSC&L Career Progression toolkit.
• Act as a coach and mentor; facilitate one-on-one interactions. Motivate and support multiple cross-functional and regional teams.
• KPI: Retention Rate, Engagement Index.

Continuous Improvement & Project Support

• Use metrics and analytics to identify improvement priorities within Supply Planning and the Plant supply chain teams.
• Coordinate annual self-assessment on the Supply Planning process maturity as an input to future improvement plans.
• Support MSA projects, both internal and external to Supply Chain, including SAP WOM go-lives and the integration of new sites.
• Identify and implement systems and standard work to improve supply planning; develop supply planning metrics that link and support strategic initiatives.
• Aid in the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SAP IBP Supply Planning that is a part of the end-to-end business solution.
• KPI: Supply Planning Self-Assessment Score, KPI Dashboard.

Qualifications

Experience (required):

Level I:

5+ years of experience in Forecasting, Planning, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, or related function.

2+ years of management/leadership experience.

Experience in SAP or similar ERP.

Level II:

7+ years of experience in Forecasting, Planning, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Operations, or related function.

5+ years of management/leadership experience.

Experience in SAP or similar ERP.

Experience (preferred):

Level I:

• An in-depth understanding of sales, demand planning, and supply planning with exposure to and understanding of financial planning and the associated linkages.
• Understanding of supply chain flexibility, how it can be increased or decreased, and the associated costs.
• Leading a regional planning organization.
• Experience in Supply Chain planning software, including medium to long-term planning horizon.

Level II:

• All above plus creating and implementing supply planning strategies, driving standard business and system processes, and instilling discipline.
• Successfully demonstrated ability to influence key business process leaders through the SIOP process.

Education (required):

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or other related discipline, or a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience

Education (preferred):

• APICS, IBF or ISM certifications
