Job summary

Trust in SODA is seeking a Systems Engineer to manage our AWS infrastructure in a London-based hybrid role. You will deploy and maintain the AWS environment using infrastructure as code, monitor security and performance, and act as the first point of response for incidents.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in systems engineering or DevOps on AWS, hands-on IaC with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, and experience with event-driven architectures and message queues.

Qualifications

Systems Engineer – AWS | Payments Fintech | London, hybrid | £50,000

We are currently partnered up with a cross-border payments business that’s growing quickly.The company is looking for a Systems Engineer to manage the AWS infrastructure.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll deploy and maintain the AWS environment (EC2, RDS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, VPC and IAM) using infrastructure as code, monitor its security and performance, and act as first point of response for infrastructure incidents. Architecture decisions sit with the group engineering team, so the focus here is on implementing to a high standard and keeping the platform reliable.

Working in payments brings some specific responsibilities. These include queue-based retry logic for partner integrations, idempotency controls to prevent duplicate payments, and maintaining documentation that meets FCA audit requirements. Experience in a regulated environment will be a real advantage.

Key requirements:

• 5+ years of systems engineering or DevOps experience on AWS
• Hands-on infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues
• Production support experience, including on-call and incident management
• Strong, detailed documentation skills
• Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)

An AWS certification, a background in fintech or financial services, and scripting experience in Python or Bash would all be beneficial.

The role is permanent and hybrid, based in London.
