Job Description: Systems Designer - Cadillac Formula 1 Team

Reporting to: Head of Mechanical Systems Design

Cadillac Formula 1 is excited to be on the grid for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship. Job Description:

We are seeking a Systems Designer for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team at our new Silverstone Facility. The role involves mechanical design and engineering of components and assemblies for our car's sub-systems, primarily focusing on Cooling, Fuel, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Exhaust Systems, with additional Powertrain Integration activities. We encourage team members to challenge established thinking and share ideas to foster an environment of shared success.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Prepare schemes, layouts, and detailed drawings of car system parts, ensuring accuracy on the first attempt.
  • Own your designated areas, ensuring they meet requirements, and troubleshoot/fix issues based on rig/trackside feedback.
  • Coordinate technically with other departments, our Power Unit partner, and suppliers/users of your parts.
  • Balance performance, reliability, and cost effectively.
  • Stay updated with developments in your area of responsibility.
  • Support sustainable manufacturing practices without compromising car performance.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Engineering or a related discipline, with a 2:1 or higher classification preferred.
  • Extensive experience with high-end CAD systems; Catia/3DX preferred, but training is available for other systems.
  • Strong understanding of race car systems' principles and physics.
  • Design experience in Powertrain Integration, Cooling, Fuel, or Hydraulic systems, preferably in motorsport. Composite design experience is a plus.
  • Active interest in innovation, such as drawing inspiration from nature or other industries, implementing new technology, additive manufacturing, AI tools, or automation.
  • Curious, committed to continuous learning, and adaptable to changing plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, capable of working independently under challenging deadlines.
  • Proficient in IT skills, including MS Office suite.
  • Contribute positively to an inclusive and diverse culture.
