Job summary

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies Scheduler to join the Chemotherapy Day Unit at QEH Gateshead. You will coordinate scheduling for systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) using chemocare and NHS IT systems, ensuring efficient capacity use and timely patient appointments.

Qualifications

• Experience in scheduling or appointments role.
• Proficient IT skills including NHS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with chemocare scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Receive referrals and schedule patients for outpatient SACT for cancer.
• Allocate appropriate appointment slots for each stage of the treatment process, liaising with relevant staff as necessary.
• Participate in all aspects of the administration service within the unit as required. Contribute to the delivery of a high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Maintain awareness of service delivery developments and contribute to the implementation of change within the service.
• Participate in meetings as required.
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with all patients and stakeholders.
• Support the unit manager with data collection and audits as required.
• Update appointments following treatment changes, deferrals, or cancellations as instructed by clinical staff.
• Signpost patients to appropriate clinical staff if they have treatment-related questions or concerns.
• Maintain confidentiality and data integrity when handling patient information in line with GDPR and Trust policies.
• Contribute positively to a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence.
