The FCAS (Future Combat Air Systems) is currently in the design and development phase. This role involves working as part of the team who are supporting the FCAS design ensuring that all elements work together to deliver effects throughout an engagement. The ability to optimise effects as part of a wider, complex, interlinking combat air system is vital to the success of the FCAS, and you will play a key role in ensuring that it is fit for purpose. Your role as an experienced engineer in the System Performance team will be to act with autonomy and authority to bring about and deliver a series of studies (by developing and utilising the matlab-Simulink based System Model) to demonstrate, prove and assess how we can optimise the effectiveness of kinetic and EW-enabled weapons in a quantified way. You will work closely with other teams to convert these findings into requirements and influence the FCAS design.
Eagerness to collaborate and work with others is essential (both within the team and with other engineering teams or stakeholders).
Experience developing reusable programmes in a high level programming language would be a strong advantage (e.g. Matlab, Python, C++ etc…).
Eagerness to work autonomously, and take ownership for delivery.
Experience or willingness to learn to operate within a tailored agile framework and adopt AGILE values and behaviours.
Experience creating dynamic models of interlinked systems would be an advantage.
Experience analysing system behaviour and/or deriving/proving system requirements would be beneficial.
This is an emerging discipline within the programme and the broader business, and there is opportunity to shape the capability as it grows. The role will develop a core performance assessment skill base for system of systems concepts, with collaborative working across wider technology and systems engineering disciplines.
Opportunity to shape and influence cutting-edge 6th Gen Air capabilities for our customer and international partners. There is an opportunity for the role to develop and grow in line with personal development
