Job summary

MBDA is seeking a delivery-focused Senior Project Manager to lead aspects of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) programme, partnering with GCAP and international teams to deliver capability to the RAF. The role combines on-site and remote elements in a dynamic, security-conscious environment.

You will drive project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement across MBDA and partner organisations, with opportunities for professional growth and accredited project management

Qualifications

• Experience in Project/Programme Management, ideally in a matrix organisation.
• Strong risk management experience and ability to mitigate issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver projects within FCAS programme in a dynamic Defence context.
• Manage stakeholder relationships across multiple sites and international partners.
• Apply EVM, schedule adherence and schedule risk assessments to projects.
• Provide guidance on bidding and estimating activities for project opportunities.
• Drive excellence through leadership and collaboration in cross-functional teams.
• Support development and progression within MBDA project management community.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a delivery focused Senior Project Manager on the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) Programme; one of the largest, most exciting and challenging programmes within Defence – to design and deliver the Future Combat Air Platform to the RAF in record time. The key cornerstone of FCAS is the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), which sees the UK working with other international partners Italy and Japan, to deliver the future combat air platform. FCAS and GCAP presents a unique opportunity to influence the design of the system to consider the integration and employment of effects rather than just integrate effectors to an existing platform.

Salary

Circa £50,000- 56,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working

2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance

British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

What we're looking for from you:

• Project /Programme Management experience – ideally gained in a matrix organisation
• Strong risk management skills and experience
• Sound business judgement including an appreciation of complex problems and how to solve them
• Strong communication and motivational skills
• Ability to embrace new challenges and deal with a level of ambiguity
• Experience of leading projects from a business perspective, including EVM, schedule adherence and schedule risk assessments.
• Bidding & estimating experience
• Negotiating and influencing skills, with the ability to establish and maintain relationships and work collaboratively across various levels and with internal and external collaborators
• Drive and motivation in leading project teams to strive for excellence in the face of adversity
• Engage, share standard methodology and find opportunities for innovation
