Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the development of complex dynamic systems within the Actuation Systems Centre of Excellence Servo domain. The role combines technical leadership with hands-on modelling and hardware validation, on a hybrid pattern requiring 2-3 days per week on-site.

Applicants should hold an appropriate technical degree and have strong Matlab/Simulink proficiency, Monte Carlo capability, and a track record of process improvement and cross-functional

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification or equivalent with mathematical content (e.g., Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science)
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of dynamic systems and mathematical modelling including mechanical systems, motors and feedback systems such as sensors] ,
  • Experienced user of MATLAB & Simulink tools
  • Proven experience of process improvement and continuous improvement culture
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence, collaborate and network
  • Ability to validate mathematical models using real-world hardware performance data
  • Ability to generate subsystem or component requirements in support of system architecture development
  • Monte Carlo simulations to assess product performance and reliability across stochastic variables

Job description

An exciting new role has emerged within the Actuation Systems Centre of Excellence Servo domain looking for an experienced engineer to lead the development of complex dynamic systems.

Salary: Between £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience. Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification. Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

What we’re looking for from you:
  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience with mathematical content (e.g Control Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science)
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of dynamic systems and mathematical modelling, which include mechanical systems, motor and feedback systems such as sensors.
  • Experienced user of MATLAB & Simulink tools
  • Proven experience of process improvement and being a part of a continuous improvement culture
  • Strong communicator with the ability to influence, collaborate and network
  • A proven ability to validate mathematical models using real-world hardware performance data
  • Ability to generate sub-system or component requirements in support of system architecture development
  • Conduct Monte Carlo simulations to assess product performance and reliability across a range of stochastic variable and expected manufacturing tolerances
  • An ability to justify and support production test limits.
