Job description

GLL is currently looking for swimming teachers based in Enfield to work across Southgate Leisure Centre and Arnos Pools. Join us as a swimming teacher and play a key role in developing our customers' swimming skills. This is your chance to deliver safe, consistent swimming lessons that give people confidence in the water – an invaluable life skill.

As an experienced swimming teacher, you’ll thrive on supporting people to achieve their potential, taking into account their individual needs. Swimming teachers draw on their knowledge of practices, progression, and teaching points, applying it effectively. Most of your time will be spent teaching people to become stronger swimmers, whether in groups or one-to-one, and from children to adults.

We’re looking for swimming teachers who are approachable, with a friendly, patient nature to build trust, motivate pupils, and encourage with praise. You’ll need to be STA Award or Certificate level or Swim England Level 2 qualified, and ideally have the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches. Knowledge of health, safety, relevant legislation, and Child Protection Policy is essential.

What you will do:

1. Maintain a positive image of the Centre by providing a welcoming, helpful, and professional poolside service.
2. Comply with the ‘Customer Charter’ and maintain standards.
3. Ensure the safety and control of pupils during lessons and enforce relevant regulations.
4. Encourage pupils to enroll in further courses and assist with enrolments as required.
5. Follow the Safeguarding Policy, Behaviour Policy, and record relevant awards.
6. Teach according to the standards set within the product manual for consistency across centres.
