Job summary

Ipswich Borough Council is recruiting Swimming Instructors for their Ipswich Swim Lesson programme. You will teach adults and children, following Swim England guidance, with emphasis on safety and inclusive teaching.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 Swimming Instructors Qualification or National Swimming Instructors Qualification.
• DBS clearance is required for this role.
• Experience teaching adults and children with varying abilities/needs is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexibility for evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Teach adults and children to swim in accordance with Swim England and Institute for Sport guidance.
• Deliver engaging lessons with safety as a priority and creative lesson planning.
• Ensure water safety is at the forefront of all activities; maintain a positive, supportive approach.

Active Ipswich and Ipswich Fit are looking to recruit new Swimming Instructors to their already exciting Swimming Lesson programme (the largest in the local area).

Successful applicants will be responsible for teaching adults and children with varying learning or physical abilities/needs to swim (in accordance with Swim England and Institute for Sport guidance), a vital life skill.

Applicants will be required to of obtained either the previous Level 2 Swimming Instructors Qualification, or the newly combined National Swimming Instructors Qualification. Those who are currently undertaking their qualification or have been accepted onto a future course may still apply with the understanding; they cannot take up the full role until completion of the course and qualification documents have been received.

We are looking for friendly, positive minded instructors who are comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. Applicants need to be confident delivering in front of a variety of people and have a passion about their craft. Water safety needs to be at the fore front of their minds with an eye to be creative with lesson planning and implementation.

Successful applicants will join at an exciting time as the future of Sport in Ipswich continues to develop across the town with some big projects on the horizon.

The post holder will not be required to work a shift pattern, but shifts they do pick up could include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
