Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking several enthusiastic Swim Teachers to join our team across leisure centres in the county. Roles include casual, daytime, evening and weekend posts with various contracted hours.

You will help more than 4000 children learn to swim, promoting a vital life skill while adhering to safeguarding policies and development of trainees across sites such as Woodhouse Close, Newton Aycliffe, Louisa Centre, Chester Le Street, Freemans Quay, Spennymoor and more.

Qualifications

• Swim England Level 2 or STA Level 2 qualifications.
• Must work towards RLSS NPLQ or National Rescue Award and SEQ Level 1 & 2 within 6 months.
• Passion for helping people learn a vital life skill.
• DBS Enhanced Disclosure if successful.

Responsibilities

• Teach swimming to children across Durham County Council leisure centres.

• Support learners and contribute to a positive learning environment.

• 5.5 hours permanent post - Woodhouse close
• 3.5 hours permanent post - Newton Aycliffe
• Casual hours - Louisa Centre
• Casual hours - Chester le Street
• Casual hours / Contracted Hours available. Contracted hours are negotiable - Freemans Quay
• Casual hours - Newton Aycliffe
• Contracted and casual posts available at Spennymoor

Durham County Council teach over 4000 children to swim, we have amazing teachers that teach these children a life skill and we are looking to expand our team across the county.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

• Swim England Level 2 or STA Level 2 Qualifications
• Must work towards and obtain the RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches, and SEQ Level 1 & 2 within 6 months of employment

Most of all, you need to be passionate about helping people learn this vital and fun life skill.

If successful, you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.

as part of the interview process all candidates will be expected to successfully complete the Durham County Council Swimming Teacher Interview Pool Test designed to assess the practical capabilities of the candidate.
