Salary: £48,836.45 (£53,813.84 is achieved after 12 months successful performance in the role)

The difference you will make as an Sustainability Investment Manager
As a Sustainability Investment Manager you will develop and drive the delivery of a decarbonisation programme aimed at achieving EPC Band C in Riverside Group Homes by 2030 and Net Zero Carbon by 2050. You will ensure the group has a full understanding of current and projected sustainability performance by continuous data improvement. Seeking out funding opportunities that maximise our investment in our stock and developing processes for the management of sustainability assets to benefit our customers.
About you
We are looking for someone who has …
- Knowledge of developing and delivering energy efficiency action plans large using large, complex data sets and identifying anomalies in data and proposing solutions.
- Adept at working in a customer focused environment and engaging with customers and colleagues providing advice and support regarding the technicalities of energy efficiency works and financial models to deliver these works.
- Understanding of risk management, property management and property related compliance requirements.

Role Profile
- Work with regional and national stakeholders to identify, develop and deliver projects to improve environmental asset performance.
- Develop the Group’s decarbonisation programme primarily for the retrofit of energy efficiency measures, and in a supportive role across a number of sustainability areas including the below, incorporating other planned investment programmes eg: Office accommodation Commercial spaces Renewables Open space planning Trialing of innovative products or processes that assist in meeting business plans requirements
- Develop investment scenarios and technical requirements on a whole house basis across the portfolio to meet EPC C by 2030 and 2050 Net Zero Carbon targets.
- Devise an energy data improvement plan and direct collection and processing of datasets. Maintain a plan to improve the energy efficiency of portfolio in line with strategic objectives.
- Collaborate to improve the integrity and quality of data linked to sustainability areas, ensuring effective implementation and communication to key stakeholders, monitoring compliance to ensure data accuracy and consistency is maintained.
- Identify, apply for, and maximise external grant funding through liaison with financial sector, central government and funding bodies for energy efficiency works on our homes as well as external funding for research on resource efficiency. This work includes writing funding applications, overseeing the administration of grants and horizon scanning.
- Develop and deliver against sustainability metrics to monitor and manage success.
- Ensure that we are always innovating and undertaking the right programmes of work, adopting the right technologies and adhering to the right standards to put our customers first.
- Have a great understanding of what manufacturers, and suppliers can offer to Riverside including professional services, technology and data management.
- Contribute to stock rationalization assessments and disposal planning.
- Support the Investment Planning Manager in medium to long term investment programme development, including planning and budgeting as required.
- Contribute to the development and review of relevant budgets, ensuring Asset Management expenditure is robustly managed in line with the Group’s financial controls, reporting as required including escalating details of planned over/under spending as appropriate.
- Oversee the monitoring of current and estimated future costs of investment planning, supporting the Investment Planning Manager in the development of effective strategies to deliver cost reductions.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders effectively including Asset Management colleagues and third-parties, providing advice and support and building constructive working relationships to effectively deliver the Group’s Asset Management Strategy.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures by assessing past and in progress projects, and utilizing Building Performance Evaluation data.
- Respond flexibly to any necessary changes in work priorities and undertake other duties when required to support the effective operation of the service.
- Ensure that data protection requirements are met in accordance with the Group’s policy, procedures and statutory requirements.

Person specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Proven track record in developing skills and capacity to deliver net carbon zero through partnerships with suppliers, developers, constructors, LA’s, Combined Authorities and other RP’s.
- Highly proficient at analysing and evaluating complex information and develop appropriate strategies, and to present findings clearly to a range of audiences.
- Working knowledge of key funding streams to decarbonise our homes and business.
- Sound knowledge of legislation and good practice relating to social housing.
- Legislative and regulatory requirements regarding energy usage within social housing context.
- Experience in the building industry, ideally working within sustainability or social housing.
- Thorough understanding of project management methodologies.
- Effective stakeholder management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others.
- Customer focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
- Results driven with strong analytical skills, including the ability to critically analyse complex information, and experience of providing meaningful management information.
- A relevant academic qualification (recognised degree standard qualification in a relevant environmental science), and/or membership of relevant professional bodies such as IEMA, CIAT, RICS or CIOB.
- Experience in delivery of large scale energy efficiency projects.
