Job summary

Network Rail is seeking a sustainability-focused professional to join the Technical Authority Environment & Sustainability team in Milton Keynes. You will help embed sustainability into day-to-day decisions, contribute to the Greener Railway Strategy, and support cross-team collaborations to implement practical actions.

You will maintain assurance schedules, monitor recommendations, and help keep required registers up to date, aligning with government consultations and evolving obligations.

Qualifications

• Understanding of sustainability and sustainable business with engagement examples.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience communicating with diverse stakeholder groups to aid decision making.
• Ability to build a strong internal and external network.
• Ability to coordinate groups of technical experts to achieve outcomes.
• Good knowledge of the rail industry, including regulatory landscape and Network Rail processes.

Responsibilities

• Help bring the Greener Railway Strategy to life across Network Rail.
• Maintain the sustainability assurance schedule and monitor delivery and recommendations.
• Identify risks and opportunities and keep the legal/compliance register up to date.
• Build relationships across Network Rail and with external partners to share learning.
