Job summary

RSSB is seeking a Senior Sustainability Manager, Natural Environment to lead climate adaptation and circular economy within the Sustainable Rail Blueprint. You will collaborate with the Natural Environment Principal and cross-team colleagues to deliver innovative environmental projects and industry guidance.

The role requires delivering strategy, policy development and stakeholder engagement, with hybrid working from our London office.

Qualifications

• Degree in environmental science or sustainability or equivalent, or ISEP status.
• Expertise in climate change adaptation and resilience, preferably including transport/infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of circular economy and waste management.
• Proven track record in managing environmental projects and programmes.
• Understanding of key environmental policies related to climate adaptation and circular economy.
• Contribute to resilience framework integration into asset standards and risk assessments.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Adaptability and proactive problem solving in a changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, delivery and management of activities for climate adaptation and circular economy within the Sustainable Rail Blueprint.
• Shape technical specifications for industry projects to align with Blueprint objectives.
• Oversee day-to-day delivery of technical projects and manage supplier relationships to ensure timely delivery.
• Plan climate change adaptation and circular economy industry working groups and coordinate communications.
• Organise the annual Rail Natural Environment Day with all four Natural Environment groups.
• Maintain broad understanding of Natural Environment agenda and wider sustainability issues.
• Advise stakeholders including government departments on environmental projects and policies.
• Produce accessible technical communications for RSSB and industry campaigns.
• Act as RSSB SME on climate adaptation and circular economy, supporting member inquiries.
