Job summary

Murphy, a leading international engineering and construction company, is seeking a Sustainability & Carbon Engineer to support carbon and sustainability objectives across UK projects.

You will collect, analyse, and report carbon and environmental performance data with project teams, and identify opportunities to improve sustainability.

The role requires clear communication across multidisciplinary teams and a commitment to applying best-practice standards such as PAS 2080 and ISO 14001.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, or carbon management.
• Experience with data reporting and performance management systems.
• Understanding of sustainability principles in infrastructure or construction projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to analyse information, solve problems and communicate findings clearly.
• Experience with carbon accounting, environmental reporting, or LCAs is a plus.
• Familiarity with PAS 2080, GHG Protocol, ISO 14001 or equivalent.
• Experience on major infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects.
• Experience mentoring or coordinating across teams.
• Membership of or progress towards a relevant professional institution.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of carbon and sustainability objectives across projects.
• Collaborate with project teams to collect, analyse, and report carbon and environmental performance data.
• Identify opportunities to improve sustainability and carbon performance and support implementation of initiatives.
• Contribute to carbon assessments, reporting, governance, and assurance activities.
• Provide technical guidance on carbon, sustainability, and environmental management matters.
• Promote best-practice approaches to sustainability and continuous improvement.
