Job summary

Murphy is recruiting an Environmental Manager to lead sustainability efforts within the Energy Team on the SSE ASTI Framework in the UK. You will drive environmental compliance, risk mitigation, and best practice across construction projects while collaborating with SHESQ and site teams.

We seek Chartered IEMA professionals with solid experience in waste and water management, consents, Biodiversity Net Gain, and Net Zero initiatives.

Qualifications

• Chartered IEMA qualification required.
• Experience in environmental risk mitigation on major construction projects.
• Consents, licensing, DCO experience and Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Strong understanding of Net Zero principles.
• Experience in carbon measurement and driving reduction.
• Experience in environmental incident management and investigation.

Responsibilities

• Establish leadership in environmental and sustainability matters with SHESQ.
• Ensure staff are aware of statutory duties and responsibilities and provide guidance.
• Lead site management teams to ensure compliance with environmental plans.
• Oversee investigations of accidents/incidents and make prevention recommendations.
• Collate and review environmental statistics to identify trends and improvements.
• Develop campaigns and improvement plans with Operations/SHES Directors.
• Prepare and review environmental documents, including third parties.
• Produce environmental plans and procedures and ensure compliance.
• Identify environmental consents/permits and ensure they are obtained.
• Provide reports and presentations to the SHESQ function.
• Participate in pre-qualification and tender submissions.

A day in the life of a Murphy Environmental Manager:

• Establish and provide Leadership in best practice in environmental and sustainability matters in conjunction with the SHESQ function.
• Ensure management controls are in place so that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
• Take a lead with site management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the environmental and sustainability plans.
• Lead, partake and oversee accident / incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
• Collate & review environmental and sustainability statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Develop and implement environmental and sustainability campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Operations Director / SHES Director.
• Manage and where required be involved in the preparation & review of environmental and sustainability documents including those of 3rd parties.
• Produce environmental and sustainability plans, procedures and associated documentation and check compliance.
• Identify significant environmental and sustainability issues and help set-up contracts / yards to include appropriate controls.
• Manage and Identify any environmental and sustainability consents / permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained.
• Provide reports, presentations, and information as directed by the Business / SHESQ function.
• Input and review of pre-qualification, tender and environmental and sustainability award submission
