Job summary

Saipem in the United Kingdom is seeking a Survey Workshop Engineer to join the Survey Asset department in Aberdeen. You will inspect, maintain and test survey equipment and support related logistics to ensure project readiness.

This permanent, full-time role is based at the Bridge of Don / Potterton offices with a 37.5-hour week. Candidates should have college-level training in survey electronics and onshore workshop experience, plus proficiency with MS Office and asset-tracking systems.

Qualifications

  • Education in survey related electronics or equivalent training.
  • Experience in an onshore workshop inspecting, testing and maintaining survey equipment.
  • Experience installing and interfacing survey equipment and sensors; able to read technical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Test, maintain, and prepare asset equipment for projects per QA/QC procedures.
  • Liaise with suppliers to repair equipment or arrange out-of-house repairs and follow the process.
  • Update maintenance records, calibration, failures, repairs and close fault reports.
  • Register new equipment into the Asset Tracking System and manage receipts.
  • Assist warehouse team in packing equipment to safeguard serviceability.
  • Provide technical assistance to offshore survey teams and resolve equipment issues.

Purpose of the position:

As Survey Workshop Engineer, you will be part of the Survey Asset department and report to the Survey Asset Manager. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and testing of survey and positioning equipment, while supporting related logistical activities.

How can you support us? Here below are your responsibilities:
  • Testing, maintenance, and preparation of Asset equipment for projects in line with department QA/QC procedures.
  • Liaise with suppliers to repair damage or faulty equipment in house, or to arrange out of house repairs and following of process.
  • Update records of equipment maintenance, services, calibration, failure & repairs, and close out fault reports submitted from the offshore teams.
  • Responsible for the receipt, storage and registering of all new equipment into the department Asset Tracking System.
  • Assist warehouse team in packing of equipment to safeguard the serviceability.
  • Assist Support Engineers as required in equipment selection, and Asset availability, as required in support of project requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance, support and advise to offshore survey teams for any equipment matters and liaise with equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • If required, assist vessel mobilisations and demobilisations by liaising with the support team, utilising internal documents as reference.
  • Maintains inventory and stock levels of all equipment and consumables.
  • Contribute to Survey equipment technical updates, bulletins etc.
  • Assist in maintaining necessary tools and equipment registers required to execute survey equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Working according to the department QA/QC procedures, standards and specifications and contribute to their improvement.
  • Actively partake in research and development of internally designed solutions to meet project requirements.
  • Assist Warehouse as required on receipt of third party hired survey equipment.
What are we looking for?
Education: College education and/or industry training in survey related electronic engineering
Experience: Experience in an onshore workshop environment, inspecting, testing and maintaining survey equipment.
Technical skills: Experience in the installation and interfacing of survey equipment and sensors. Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings (both electronic and mechanical)
IT skills: Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office applications).
