Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for the Surgical Specialty Clinic. The RPN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients with chronic wounds, surgical and ostomy needs, following established standards of practice.

The ideal candidate holds an RPN Diploma, perioperative and wound care certifications, and is current with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Qualifications

• Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Perioperative Certificate.
• Wound care certificate from a recognized institution.
• CPR (Basic Cardiac Life Support).
• Minimum of 3 years surgical and wound care nursing experience.
• Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
• Knowledge of current BPG in wound/ostomy care.
• Demonstrated good attendance and work record.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in a multidisciplinary family-centred environment.
• Provide high-quality nursing care for chronic wound, surgical and ostomy needs using the nursing process.
• Maintain aseptic technique and care for specialized instruments.
• Monitor vital signs, administer medications and set up medical equipment.
• Document per College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
