Job summary

Lakeridge Health is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide high-quality patient care and participate in the Float Pool, MDT, and Nursing Team on Healthy Aging program units at Oshawa and Whitby sites.

The role requires current RPN licensure in good standing, a Diploma from a community college, and BLS certification, with ongoing education to stay current in clinical practice.

Qualifications

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• RPN diploma from an accredited community college.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Recent medical-surgical experience and evidence of continuing education.
• Coronary Care I course required or must enroll within 6 months and complete within 18 months (reimbursement provided).
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education in patient assessment, education, leadership and related Clinical Specialties.
• Ability to lift, turn, transfer patients with mechanical lifts.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
• Demonstrates ability to adapt to change across patient care units and hospital sites.
• Commitment to Lakeridge Health safety programs and practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal patient care and monitor vital signs.
• Administer medications and monitor IVs.
• Assist with telemetry and equipment setup.
• Maintain health records according to hospital policy and standards.
• Collaborate as part of the Float Pool, Multidisciplinary Team and Nursing Team.
• Uphold safety, documentation and professional standards.
