Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Contracts Manager to lead surfacing operations across Grampian from Netherglen Quarry or nearby sites. The role is field-based, with oversight of surfacing squads to deliver projects safely, on time and to high quality standards.

You will work with operations teams and subcontractors, driving performance, maintaining client relationships and promoting HSE culture while developing the surfacing business across the region.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience leading surfacing activities in local authority or strategic road network environments.
• Strong commercial awareness with ability to manage budgets, costs and contract performance.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong document management capabilities.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams while building stakeholder relationships.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills across organisational levels.
• Analytical mindset to interpret operational and financial data for decision making.
• Commitment to high health, safety, wellbeing and environmental standards.
• Desirable professional qualification or membership; SMSTS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, efficient delivery of asphalt surfacing contracts across varied projects.
• Manage contract performance to meet time, budget and quality targets.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, authorities and subcontractors.
• Identify opportunities to increase volume, grow customer base and profitability.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and policy standards.
• Monitor financial and operational performance against plans and targets.
• Provide leadership to operational teams and promote continuous improvement.
• Maintain records and reporting to support contract management decisions.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service.
