Job summary

Stepping Stone Projects in Manchester is seeking a Supported Housing Worker to join our UASC service. This part-time, 22.5-hour role focuses on practical housing management and person-centred support to help unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people build safe, independent lives in the UK.

You will develop support plans, carry out risk assessments, visit properties and coordinate with partner agencies to promote safeguarding, wellbeing and long-term housing stability.

• Advocate for young people and work closely with local authorities, education providers, health services and other partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Complete support plans, risk assessments and case records, while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and the safety of both young people and their accommodation.

As a Supported Housing Worker on Stepping Stone Projects' Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Service, you'll play a vital role in helping young people build safe, independent and successful lives in the UK.

Working with young people who have arrived in the country without family support, you'll provide a combination of practical housing management and person-centred support. From helping young people understand their tenancy responsibilities, manage their accommodation and access education, training and healthcare, to building independence skills and supporting them through complex challenges, no two days are the same.

About the role

This is a rewarding role for someone who can combine empathy and practical support with effective housing management and tenancy-related responsibilities. You'll manage a caseload of young people, complete support plans and risk assessments, carry out property visits, work alongside partner agencies and help young people move towards greater independence and long-term housing stability.

About You

You don't need to meet every requirement. Above all, we're looking for someone with the values, resilience and dedication to support young people to thrive. We're seeking someone who can build strong professional relationships and who is passionate about helping young people recognise and achieve their potential.

You may already have experience in supported housing, housing management, tenancy sustainment, homelessness services, refugee or asylum support, youth work, leaving care services, social care, education, or another customer-facing support environment.

The ideal candidate will understand how to balance practical housing responsibilities with person-centred support, helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently.

We would love to hear from you if you are able:

• To support young people to access services from other statutory and voluntary agencies as appropriate to their needs and act as key worker in co-ordinating services in order to prevent duplication.
• To support customers through individual resettlement support and independence plans.
• To ensure that record-keeping and communication systems are accurately maintained, up-to-date and comply with SSP's Data Protection Policy.
• To work with and advise young people accordingly with regard to welfare rights, budgeting, employment, education and training, leisure opportunities and issues of personal care.
• To assist the Line Manager in ensuring that all furniture and fittings in the young person's home is maintained and in good condition.
• To advise/assist young people with the reporting of necessary repairs and decorating in their proposed homes, visiting and liaising with agencies to ensure satisfactory completion
