Permanent Support Worker Position

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Support Worker to join the Dorchester Young Peoples Service, based in Fordington, Dorchester. The service, opened in August 2017, provides accommodation and tailored support to help young people acquire independent living skills.

This role can be offered as a Full Time position or Part Time (2 x 20 hours per week).

You will manage a caseload of residents, guiding them to articulate their aspirations and realize their potential. Responsibilities include managing referrals, conducting interviews and assessments, notifying applicants of outcomes, inducting new residents, and delivering support sessions both one-to-one and in groups.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
• A genuine desire and passion to work with vulnerable young people.
• Willingness to learn on the job.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work under pressure and use your initiative.
• A positive and creative approach.
• IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office.
• Previous experience and knowledge of housing and benefits advice are advantageous but not mandatory.

Appointment is subject to a satisfactory DBS check, references, and possession of a valid Right to Work document.
