The Support Worker role in the 14+ Through Care Team will involve you working with young people aged 14-18 who are in the care of the local authority. Your role will be to work alongside social workers and other professionals to provide direct support to young people as identified to support their Care Plans and Pathway Plans. The role will involve a range of tasks including supporting young people to express their wishes and feelings, carrying out joint visits with social workers, supporting contact arrangements, completing Life Story Work and other tasks as required to support young people to successfully remain in their placements.
The 14+ Through Care Team is a very supportive and welcoming team with an excellent track record of making new starters feel at ease and helping them develop.
The 14+ Support Worker predominantly undertakes direct work with young people aged 14-18 and their carers. Pieces of work may be short interventions (e.g. targeted work around internet safety), or can be a longer term part of providing stability to a young person. You may undertake Life Story work with young people, helping them understand their journey and the various circumstances that have shaped their lives. You will work alongside the allocated social worker – this role does not involve being the primary allocated worker for young people.
