Support Worker – StanleySmith Case Management | Newquay
About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate Support Worker to provide professional assistance to a male client in his 40s living independently in Newquay. This is a part‑time role with alternate weekend shifts, offering a balance between meaningful work and flexibility.

Role Overview

You will support a gentleman with complex needs, including acquired brain injury and substance misuse issues. While personal care is not required, you will help him plan his day, make decisions, organise appointments, and access the community. Activities may include pool, fishing, go‑karting, golf, drives, beach visits, takeaways, and coffee outings. His family plays an important role in his life, and you will support maintaining those connections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mindful support to promote independence and wellbeing
  • Assist with planning, decision‑making, and appointment management
  • Motivate and accompany the client to community activities and hobbies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records
  • Support rehabilitation programmes and encourage positive daily routines
  • Communicate effectively with the client, family, and wider care team
  • Respond appropriately to challenges and maintain a consistent approach
Candidate Requirements
Essential
  • Experience caring for clients with physical and mental health issues
  • Understanding of physical and cognitive difficulties
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Enhanced DBS check required
Desirable
  • Experience with learning, cognitive, behavioural support, substance misuse, or mental health issues
  • Competent IT skills

Compensation
  • Weekday face‑to‑face: £20.26/hour
  • Weekend face‑to‑face: £22.52/hour
  • Weekday on‑call: £12.71/hour
  • Weekend on‑call: £13.41/hour
Schedule
  • 2 weekday hours face‑to‑face (Friday 5pm–7pm)
  • 4 weekend hours face‑to‑face (Saturday 11am–2pm, with flexibility for longer days once a month)
  • 3 weekday on‑call hours (Friday 7pm–10pm)
  • 6 weekend on‑call hours (Saturday and Sunday 7pm–10pm)
  • Total: 15 hours every other weekend, with opportunities for additional shifts to cover absences
