As a support worker, the rewards can be significantly greater than the challenges. You’ll become part of a UK-wide network of autism specialists and gain in-depth knowledge of autism. Most importantly, you’ll learn through real experiences and carve your own career in social care. Many who join us have no previous knowledge of autism or support work. Our comprehensive introduction programme, along with ongoing learning and development opportunities, helps all staff become autism experts.
We are seeking support workers for our adult services in the South West, Wales, and Surrey, including full-time, part-time, night, and bank roles.
You will receive a structured induction programme to welcome you to our organisation. We will guide you from your first day through your probation period and into your first 12 months. Before starting, you will have access to online learning, including courses on autism, safeguarding, data protection, and equality, diversity, and rights.
Within the first 12 weeks, we will support you to complete the Care Certificate, a requirement for all health and social care workers in England. We also assist you in meeting the social care sector requirements for Scotland (SSSC registration and SVQ in Social Services), Wales, or Northern Ireland, depending on your location. Additionally, you will have opportunities to complete further awards and diplomas relevant to your role, including work-based training.
Our award-winning e-learning platform allows you to complete some of your required training and access additional courses such as time management and conflict handling. The training now includes accelerated Care Certificate modules. Courses also provide a deeper understanding of autism, covering topics like understanding autism, communication, sensory experiences, stress, and anxiety.
