Job summary

Elysium Healthcare is seeking a part-time Support Worker for Gresham House in Staplehurst, Kent. The role covers night shifts from 9pm to 7:30am, helping people with mental health conditions and supporting their recovery in a caring, team-based setting.

You will join an inclusive team, with training and development opportunities to help you grow within a Kindness and teamwork driven culture, and a DBS disclosure is required for appointment.

What you will be doing

This is a part-time vacancy, 21 contracted hours a week, night shift, 9pm - 7.30am. You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with a range of Mental Health conditions, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recovery pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life. Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours, and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you've made someone's life better.

Where you will be working

Location: Gresham House, Station Road, Staplehurst, Kent, TN12 0PZ

Gresham House provides a specialist residential service for all gender identities who have a learning disability, or who are autistic, and have behaviours which, due to their diagnosis, may be of concern or distress. Gresham House are also specialists in working with additional complex needs including:

  • ADHD
  • Epilepsy
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Self-injurious behaviours
  • Individuals who may have limited hearing or sight
  • Individuals with mobility issues who may require a wheelchair

The aim of the service is to encourage individuals to lead a full and purposeful life, enabling them to live more independently in the heart of the community. This is achieved through a programme of active community engagement that promotes meaningful social networks and the development of bespoke coping strategies. This also supports developing further independence and social skills, including participating in meal preparation and learning about safety measures both in their environment and out in the community.
