Job description

At CrossReach, we’re looking for a caring, practical and people-focused Support Worker to join our learning disabilities service — where no two days are ever the same, and every shift offers the chance to make a genuine impact.

Whether it’s helping someone learn new skills, stay safe and well at home, or explore work and leisure opportunities, you’ll be there with encouragement, compassion and respect — supporting people to lead independent, fulfilling lives.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Supporting people in their day-to-day life at home and in the community
  2. Encouraging independence and choice — from cooking to managing finances
  3. Delivering flexible personal care with dignity and respect
  4. Helping individuals connect with work, education or activities they enjoy
  5. Managing support plans and risk assessments
  6. Handling sleepovers (when needed) and lone working with confidence
  7. Promoting inclusion, safety, equality and wellbeing at every step
What You’ll Bring
  1. A kind heart and a practical, down-to-earth approach
  2. Confidence to work independently and use your initiative
  3. Experience in care is a bonus, but it’s your values that really count
  4. Basic IT skills (for things like online learning and keeping care notes)
  5. Ideally, an SVQ Level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare — or willingness to work towards it
  6. Availability to work evenings and weekends as part of a rota
  7. Respect for our Christian ethos and the ability to work in line with our values of dignity, compassion, and fairness

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and life experiences. If you’re passionate about care and making lives better, we’d love to hear from you.

Sound like the kind of role you’ve been looking for?

Apply now and be part of something truly meaningful.

We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that supports others, including retail and leisure discounts, a contributory pension plan, health benefits, and professional development support.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high-quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide services in Christ’s name, upholding our Christian ethos.

This role requires you to have a Christian faith and be able to work within and uphold our Christian Ethos, as mandated by law under the Occupational Requirement.

Applicants must be members of the PVG Scheme, registered with the SSSC, and have the right to work in the UK.
